The Importance of Information Security in New Media

by Karl Tatgenhorst on August 26, 2010

One place that information security hasn’t yet been hammered on is in the new media arena. New media as a business model is pretty new and it is all about collecting information, which means we are building valuable databases. These databases are very attractive as most of them contain numerous contact points for each person. Because of this, we as professionals have an obligation to design our infrastructure with security in mind. We live and die by the sword named “Reputation” if we have our contact list raided, Reputation will surely smite us. That is why I am writing this series pertaining to network security and it is why I hope you will join the conversation. Information security needs to be on our radar before we end up on the old medias radar.
